We had seventeen volunteers show for work on an unusually cool May 17th. We were able to get a great start on mulching a path through the park, as well as getting the beds ready for spring flowers. Thanks to: Joseph Mitchell, Pauline Drake, Michael B. Drake, Jim Gantner, Wayne Grady, Millicent Norman, Leola McKinney, Nicholas Wiggins, Phyllis Wiggins, Frankie Riley, Stanley Riley, Gerald E. Evans, and Terry Harrington. Also, thanks to our student volunteers: Nzinga Dixon, Noah Grady, Corey Smith, and Phoenix Smith.
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Gathering place: Driveway of 681 Waterford Road (next to the park). The park is located at the corner of Waterford Road and Oldknow Drive NW. Tasks: spreading mulch to define the trail, clearing trash from the creek, removing trash dumped along the roadside, planting annuals, etc. Tips: Dress for outdoor work; cover your head; cover your arms and legs; protect your feet with closed shoes. Items to bring–if you have them: rake, shovel, work gloves. We will have work gloves, water and snacks.
